Where do you plan to retire?

Even though my retirement is a long time away, my wife and I just got done talking about the future. With no kids are options will only be limited by money. We talked about places like the Carolina's, Mexico , etc.

Where would you like to live.

Re: Where do you plan to retire?

I moved back to Ames in 08. I don't see us ever leaving again. If we did decide to retire in the south about 40 years from now I would pick a coastal town in either South Carolina or Georgia.

Hawaii would be nice. So would northern Arizona.

My best guess would be in a coffe can with my son strongly resembling Zach galafanekis walking around.

My retirement will come when my ashes are sprinkled over Pebble Beach Golf Course.

Destin, FL. Economical, great weather, beautiful scenery. We've talked about splitting time between Destin and moving back to Ames for football season. This would be awesome!

Re: Where do you plan to retire?

Assuming anyone my age gets to retire? A lot can happen in 30+ years, and the retirement age is only going to go up.

As of right now my wife and I plan on staying in the north Detroit suburbs, but we'll see where my grandkids are living. Although I do like the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

Re: Where do you plan to retire?

Getting close to half way through my work life, but no ideas for retirement. Too many variables. I'd love to live closer to Ames by then to cut down on the commute for football games, but it all depends on money and where the kids settle down. Maybe they could build a retirement center under the south endzone at the Jack when they bowl it in...

Probably won't be able to retire for another 35 years or so. That's depressing. Time to find a sugar momma!

Re: Where do you plan to retire?

I'll likely go closer to where ever the kids end up. I do envision heading some place warm most winters. Could be as far as Australia or the South Pacific. Things could change, but unless some health event really drains me, should be pretty solid financially when we hit that point and that shouldn't be a limiting factor. We have no real strong ties to our current digs other than work.

Yep, we'll likely end up wherever our children/grandchildren are.
