How will the Penn State team be this year?

I haven't been following the defections and didn't follow Penn State at all, but was curious if they will be very good this year considering what they've been though.

    Anybody have any insight?

    Thanks in advance!

This year fine, next year ok, the next 5 years bad.

Re: How will the Penn State team be this year?

Before the defections they were looking to have a decent team, maybe an 8/9 win season. Now, it's probably looking more like a 6 or 7 win season. Their OL is inexperienced albeit they have some upperclassment at that position, and having an a young/inexperienced RB behind that spells trouble. Losing Redd hurt, but also losing the WR's will equally hurt them, but most won't admit that. Also, the loss of their punter/kicker (he did both, along with kickoffs) is going to be a giant thorn in their side, as the special teams will be drastically less effective than they would have been had he stayed. The thing that sucks the most is that Iowa get to play them at home at night, will probably have a rocking crowd (what night games aren't?) and a team that's going to be average at best to beat up on.

I don't see Iowa beating up on too many teams this year. I think PSU will be solid, good talent with an 'us against the world' chip and a pretty weak schedule equals maybe 8 wins. Agree with earlier post, 4-5 years down the line it'll be pretty bad on the field.

I'm going to be cheering for Penn State in every game they play. The people who made this mess are (mostly) gone and the current players will truly be playing for the University which should make them fun to watch.

It will be a cold day in hell before I ever cheer for Pedo State. That fan base is completely delusional and out of touch on reality. It's just sickening. I hope they go 0-12.

This year will be the best performance vs. the next 5 years.

The only thing I'll be cheering for in relation to Penn St will be for them to be getting their brains beat in every Saturday for the next 10 years....not because of the players, but because of their fans who continue to deny that anything bad happened in that program.

This. I hope Pedo State gets ****-stomped every game for the rest of my life. I was really pulling for the NCAA to kick them out.

They'll be terrible, much like the rest of the Big Televen.

Re: How will the Penn State team be this year?

They'll be okay this year (6-7 wins). Starting next year, once the "Win one for the Pedder!" loyalty wears thin by the current players and they finally realize that it's no fun playing for a school that has no hope of postseason play and that they have free transfers out and the mass defections set in, it will start getting painful for them. And when they're not able to replace the defectors with quality recruits because incoming players don't want to play for a school that stricken, it will probably look much more dismal.
