    Olympic 3 on 3

Who Would Make USA's 3-on-3 Olympic Basketball Tournament Team? | Bleacher Report

Interesting read, granted its from bleacherreport, but still an interesting thing to think about.
I personally would go with Durant and Lebron, the two obvious choices, but then I would go with Rajon Rondo. The writer says that passing would be less important, which is somewhat true, but the ability to drive would be much more important in a 3 on 3 format.

I'd go with Rose, Lebron, and Howard. Running the pick-n-role with d-rose and howard, or even Lebron...MONEY. And of course Lebron is the best in the game, should be on everyone's list.

Yeah, I forgot about Rose, he isn't near the passer as Rondo, but a better driver

I have to disagree with you there, as good a player as Howard is, I don't think it would make sense to play Howard instead of Lebron, because perimeter play and driving ability would be more important than pure post play in this format

Howard isn't posting at all... He's rebounding and kicking/dunking.

Bill Simmons does a nice job of breaking down a potential 2-on-2 tournament here (last question of the mailbag)

Why would it make any sense to have Howard at all if you don't even have him post up. Lebron has the athleticism to rebound and sunk just as well as Howard

Lebron cannot rebound as well as Howard. And if teams are running small ball, Dwight Howard should have his way in the post anyways. I think I would include Dwight Howard, Lebron and a PG... Probably Rondo at point. Dwight would also provide shot blocking around the rim against dribble penetration. And he would absolutely LOVE the allowed goal tending that would exist since this is a FIBA event.

Edit: Maybe not a PG, Lebron could do that. Maybe Carmelo or Durant. Or a great on ball defender... This is trickier than I thought.

LeBron and Durant are no-brainers. Probably go with Chris Paul for the third slot.

That's all folks. This is the correct answer.

LeBron runs point and is a top defender in the game with his athleticism. Howard sets screens on pick and roll and blocks absolutely everything in the paint. Durant has a flawless stroke and is 6'10". They can all rebound. LeBron has elite court vision. LeBron and Durant can both score pretty much in whatever fashion they want. 6'8"/6'10"/7'0" is an almost impossible matchup for other teams.

Eh, I'd put Rose on Durant, Durant on James, and James on Howard and probably win. Howard's interior skills get diminished in 3 on 3 IMO. I'd rather double off of James on Howard than try to help on whoever beats Howard off the dribble.

There's no goal tending? That changes a lot, then Howard might be more valuable than a great PG, but I still think I would rather go with my original with Rondo, Durant, and Lebron, or Rose, Durant, and Lebron.

And by the way, I stated this the wrong way, Lebron should be able to rebound as well as Howard because of his athleticism.
