    Crab cakes in Eastern Iowa?

I've got tomorrow off for my birthday and I am looking for somewhere that has good crab cakes. I've had a craving for them and I just don't know where to go. I'm looking at either Cedar Rapids or Dubuque. I'm willing to go a little further if someone has a good suggestion. Thanks.

In Worthington, IA there is a pace called Simon's. At one time they had fresh seafood from Maryland. Good luck.

The jokes almost write themselves on this board.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

If you find some let me know. I lived in MD for 2 years and dearly miss crab cakes and steamed crabs.

Smugglers Wharf in Cedar Rapids Czech village. The crab cakes are one of their signature entrees.

Re: Crab cakes in Eastern Iowa?

I've never lived on the east coast or have ever been there so I don't even really know what good seafood is, so I won't be too hard to please. I think I might check out Smugglers Wharf. My wife has said that place is pretty good and I've never been there so it sounds like the perfect place to go.

Re: Crab cakes in Eastern Iowa?

Grew up in Maryland and my folks still live there.

    G & M Restaurant & Lounge | Home page

Buy the fresh ones online. They will overnight them to you on dry ice and they are effing fantastic when broiled. My parents sent me some last year as a birthday gift.

I have had these fresh from G&M, too. Very little difference in taste between "fresh" and "shipped" ones.

Best part is, they're loaded with jumbo lump crab meat and very little filler!
