Time to rank the Big XII!

Let's see who gets the closest prediction this year. Rank them in order of conference record. I threw the record in for the hell of it.

    Here's what I've got:

    1. Kansas (14-2)- Too talented to not take the conference. I would take a few Big XII coaches over Self though

    2. A&M (10-6)- I see a decent drop off from 1 to 2. Aggies will make Dance but I see them getting bounced early

    3. Texas (10-6)- I don't like them all the way at #3 but see it as a safer bet

    4. Kansas St (10-6)- Wildcard IMO. New coach and a mix of great talent

    5. Missouri (9-7)- Coach Anderson will keep Mizzou a contender in the years to come

    6. Tech (8-8)- Bobby goes to NIT

    7. Oklahoma (7-9)- Strong frontcourt but won't see consistent winning

    8. ISU (7-9)- Inexperience will lose some games and we will miss the NIT by a couple Ws

    9. Okla St (7-9)- Sean will never be as good as dad

    10. Baylor (6-10)- I'll never be a believer in this program until they start surprising people for a full season

    11. Nebraska (5-11)- Maric can't carry the full load

    12. Colorado (3-13)-Their fans are predicting a better finish than us but I don't see it

Wasn't there a site last year that allowed you to chose the victors in each conference game, and then spat out your predicted record?

Yes! Ask ISUFan22, I remember he was always going there. That was a great site!

Re: Time to rank the Big XII!

    1. Kansas (14-2) Loaded already and when Rush comes back it will complete them.
    2. Texas ( 12-4) Life without Durant will be tough at first, but they've got plenty of talent.
    3. Kansas State (10-6) If they stay healthy, they will do fine in this conference.
    4. Missouri (10-6) Team on the rise should improve.
    5. Texas A&M (9-7) They will miss their head coach. Bubble NCAA team, but will get in.
    6. Texas Tech (8-8 or 9-7) Knight always finds a way to win. Look for his team to sneak into the NCAA's again.
    7. Oklahoma (7-9) Not ready to contend, but will be improved.
    8. Ok State (6-10) They still have talent, although I don't trust their coach.
    9. Iowa State (5-11) Lack of backcourt will hurt the Cyclones. Still a year away.
    10. Baylor (4-12) My wildcard is Baylor. They have recruited well lately, but still lose. Could be surprise team.
11.Nebraska (4-12) They could finish anywhere from 9-12th
    12. Colorado (3-13) New coach has big rebuilding job ahead of him.

Re: Time to rank the Big XII!

I'm looking for the site again... my friend at KSU gave me the link last year when I posted it. Unfortunately, I don't have it on my favs right now (work upgraded my computer - lost a lot of things)...

I just don't understand how we can be worse than last year. Sure, we lost Taylor, but he hurt us just as much as he helped us. This team is much deeper and more talented. The guards may be young, but they have more talent than Taylor, Dunson, and McIntosh. Last year, we had no experience coming into the season, so I just don't understand how you can say inexperience will lead to a worse season.

Well, that's where we disagree. With Lucca in the fold, we would have been just fine. Sorry, I don't feel that good about our current backcourt situation to think this is a team that can win half their Big 12 games. We have the front court players to do so, just not the guards. Too many newcomers and the point guard situation is very questionable at this point. Iowa State will pad their record in the nonconference schedule so I expect a similar win total, but I can't see us winning many conference games. It's tough when you lose three guards off last year's team and are forced to plug another batch of newbies in.

I will withhold my prediction until I either a) give up on getting Lucca back or b) we get him back

I would make a prediction based on A... Sorry.

How do you know we would have been 'just fine' with Staiger?

How is plugging in three new guards this year any more tough than plugging in three new ones last year?

I just don't see how we get worse.

I like your picks overall, but flip ISU with Oklahoma. I'm not sold on Capel at all.

    3. Kansas State
    4. Texas A&M
    5. Missouri
    6. Iowa State
    7. Texas Tech
    8. Oklahoma State

    10. Nebraska
    11. Baylor
    12. Colorado

I think we could go anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6. I'm going to say 8-8 and tied for 6th with TT.
