    where to stay in Vegas

My wife and I are headed out to Vegas for the bball tournament. We would like a nice place to stay, we like to gamble, but not the focus of the trip. Suggestions

If you don't think every day is a good day, try missing one.

Hi,, i lived iin Vegas for 8 years and also drove cab there for a couple of years. Downtown was my favorite and alot cheaper. If the tournament is at the Orleans its off strip. Should be good bargains and promotions at that time of year so always ask. Have fun!

Stratosphere on new strip is $40 a night after the 33% hotel tax they have there Get free ride to the 110 story top where they have 4 rides and a bar. Gambling downstairs. Would recommend going elsewhere for drinks, it was like $7 a bottle of Bud Light, I learned my lesson after 1. Lots of dollar drink specials around there though.

Highly recommend Green Valley Ranch Resort. Book it, don't tell the wife. She'll love it.

Went there a few years ago for a work convention. Wished the entire time Megan was there - very romantic spot.

Bally's is a good central location that is fairly cheap. Room was nice, casino was nice and its right across from the fountains at Bellagio.

Whatever you do, don't stay at the stratosphere, riveria, etc... on the north side of the strip. It's run down and dirty.

My favorite casino is MGM. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the strip, and the casino is awesome. Venetian is my 2nd favorite. If you're staying downtown, Golden Nugget.

My favorite has always been the Bunny Ranch. Great waitresses and full service.

Re: where to stay in Vegas

My opinion is Excalibur the casino/lobby etc is pretty dated/crappy but it's an easy walk to almost everything you want to see on the strip and the rates are dirt cheap. Basically the same rates as the north strip hotels, but you are walking distance to everything.

Once you are in the room it's as nice as any of the hotels.

I like New York New York. Laid back not to fancy, not super huge casino, fun bars.
