Would you like to see exhibition games in college football?

Its the unofficial start of the NFL tonight with the preseason games kicking off in full force this weekend. I just don't understand, outside of possible injuries, why college football does not allow for at least one exhibition game? I mean is there any other sport, professional or college, that does not have an exhibition season of some kind? I think it would benefit college football and less big name teams would fall in the early part of the season.

Yes please. No expectations on starters playing. I think it's a great idea.

Even without exhibition, i think itd be fine to extend the season a week (or even 2) earlier into summer. A lot of schools the students have been on campus for a couple weeks by then and people are ready for football by then as well.

Re: Would you like to see exhibition games in college football?

Seems like most schools play one FCS school per season. That's enough. The vast majority of them are pathetic competition with the exception of a few so its practically an exhibition but it counts towards your real record. Best of both worlds.

Re: Would you like to see exhibition games in college football?

I think there are 119 FBS teams and 122 FCS teams, so it could be easily done.

Id be in favor of the NCAA dropping the allowance of 1 FCS win to count towards bowl eligibility, and add 1 exhibition game to the college football schedule, where presumably every FBS school would schedule an FCS team as a "warm-up" game..

Little tougher to do when some places haven't started classes until Labor Day. Also is easier for places which are in session to break in underclassmen with classes + practice schedule and not having to worry about game preparation right away.

Exhibition games are a waste of time IMO.

It would be a cool way to finish the Iowa state fair! Too bad there isn't a big enough stadium in des Moines to play ISU vs UNI.

No. I don't want a game that won't even count causing injuries for any players, and exhibitions in other sports or at other levels aren't that interesting as it is.

Re: Would you like to see exhibition games in college football?

Well you have to think about the student athelete and how it will affect them when it comes the their academic studies.

An additional game or games could dramatically impact their time on campus and the ability to hold up their academic responsibilities.

We must consider these things as College Sports unlike professional are not all about revenue.

“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”

Oregon starts Sept. 24. So do Stanford and Oregon State.

Can you imagine having four weeks of games BEFORE classes start?

Someone suggested to have the spring game scrimmage be vs UNI. I thought it sounded like a good idea but he sure caught hell from a lot of people on here.

YES. And remove some of the non-con games. Or at least make it so playing Sisters of the NorthWest Holy State doesn't count towards your overall record.
