Bonds a Hall of Famer? 'Not a doubt,' he says

Barry Bonds believes he belongs in Hall of Fame - ESPN

Whether baseball's tarnished home run king is a Hall of Famer won't be determined for months, but in Barry Bonds' mind, he belongs in Cooperstown.
"Oh, without a doubt. There's not a doubt in my mind," Bonds said in a recent interview with MLB.com at San Francisco's AT&T Park.
Good luck with that one, man with the mile long forehead...

He might get in someday, but it won't be on these first few ballots.

He should be. Everyone else in that era was cheating. What are you going to keep everyone out that played from 1975-until now. It's not like they are not roiding now. It's that the testing has not figured out the newest undetectable steroid.

They'll send a message with a lot of that era's players and he won't get in on the first ballot, its a joke because technically these guys didn't break any rules. If MLB wanted to clean up the game they could have, instead they just left PED's a gray area.

I hate Bonds and believe he juiced, however I also feel he should be in the HOF--Bonds had a HOF career prior to his juiced years.

MLB did nothing about it to try to clean the game up and put the screws to the guys juicing so why punish them now. Bonds hit 762 home runs, 73 bombs in a season and won 7 MVP's...even juicing those numbers are staggering

He's right, he is a hall of famer. He probably won't get in right away, but that doesn't change the fact that he was best baseball player of his generation.

bonds is probably in the HOF for what he accomplished even before his obvious roid years. even the stinkiest old baseball writers recognize that, but they'll make him sweat it out for 5 years or so before letting him in while they continue to try to hold on to the past.

If Bud Selig and all the owners were the ones who determined who makes it to the HOF, I'd fall in line with the "baseball could have cleaned things up whenever they wanted to, but turned a blind eye" argument. But the writers were not in a position to change policies, and would be completely justified in blocking players like Bonds. I don't think they will forever, but go ahead and let some of the juicers sweat it out for a bit.

Exactly this, same with Clemens. I think that's how people will have to vote during this era. If they were a HOF before they started juicing, they should be in. Though, it might be hard to determine when they started to take steroids.

In some cases, it will be tough (Particularly with Clemens). But it's pretty clear that Bonds started juicing heading into the '99 season. That's when he started bulking up and went from 5-tool player to pure power (plus his terrific eye and hand/eye coordination).
