They need to just be quiet and accept this.

    Smart move.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Wasnt a full death penalty on the table? Sure, penn state, appeal the sanctions... and then the NCAA can completely drop the hammer.

I thought Penn State was not allowed to appeal and that they actually agreed to all of this. Am I wrong?

Re: Penn State trustees filing appeal

I agree with PSU board, the NCAA needs to ammend the sanctions, the 4 year death penalty seems appropriate now.

Yes the death penalty was on the table.

Penn State Nittany Lions -- Rodney Erickson said school faced 4-year death penalty - ESPN

"Penn State lobbied for the NCAA to take the death penalty off the table, and the NCAA described a series of other sanctions, both "punitive and corrective" in nature."

I may be mistaken, but I remember reading the the trustees were upset with Pres. Erickson accepting the penalties so quickly, but the other option was a multi-year death penalty

I agree with everyone here. They need to shut up and if they don't the full hammer should drop.

Re: Penn State trustees filing appeal

I have an honest and real dislike for the team and fans of the University of Illinois - Iowa City campus

but these PSU clowns working their way to the top of the list.

The Great God Paterno turned the other way when he knew about boys being raped on campus. The penalty is just.

Penn State's President, Rodney Erickson signed a consent decree. By signing that decree, Penn State admitted to the wrong doings and accepted their punishment.

"Anyone who files a lawsuit would face not only an early dismissal of the case but also the payment of the legal fees incurred by the NCAA and Penn State as they obtain the dismissal. The lawsuit would be an expensive failure."

Re: Penn State trustees filing appeal

I'm still struggling with the vacating of 14 years of victories. What is the rationale for that? Don't they generally only do that if you use an ineligible player or cheat to gain a competitive advantage. I think they should get a very harsh penalty but I still don't see how this part fits the infraction.

Someone want to help me out with this?

I hate vacating victories in general. They happened, the fans got to enjoy them.... changing some numbers in a record book hurts nobody.

Losing those wins hurts Paterno. It may just end up killing him...wait.
