    Vikings Rookie Injures knees

Had a feeling this might had been a bad draft pick..had injury problems in college too. High risk pick.

Well at least it was only the patellas. I was thinking ACLs or MCLs when I opened that link. Still would suck though.

I wonder if it was a complete rupture where the quadriceps pull the knee cap up the thigh. Those are always nasty to look at.

Never like to see injuries like this. I hope he can recover but, it'll be tough. He was a good pick at the time.

I'm pretty sure patellar tears are worse. It's a 6-12 month recovery and you are full weight bearing on it for the first 4-6 weeks. With an ACL at least, you can typically bear full weight as soon as you can stand it... Also, the irritation and scar tissue in the patella is a PITA... or knee.

I wouldn't call it a high risk pick. I was looking forward to seeing what Childs could do this year. I think he coulda been our #3 guy. Let's hope other rookies step it up.

    Re: Vikings Rookie Injures knees

Not a bad draft pick at all. When you have a chance to take a first round talent in the fourth round, you do it. He has an injury history, otherwise would have been a first round pick. Look at his numbers his soph and junior years at Arky. He was a beast. Bad break for Childs and the Vikings.

    And he's been waived.

Gee kid, sorry about your horrible injury. I hope you get back to one piece. By the way, here are your walking papers...oh yeah, you can't walk.

I wonder if they're going to see if anyone claims him, and if not, put him on IR. That happens sometimes. Or maybe they'll think the injury is too severe, and he won't be able to come back from it.

Too bad. At the very least, he'll get to keep his $300K signing bonus plus whatever injury settlement they work out.

Pretty sure he'll go unclaimed of course, and also I'm pretty sure he could've gone straight to IR w/o going through waivers. Maybe this allows the Vikings to re-sign him at a lower salary and see how he recovers. Just spitballing here, I have no clue really.
