    Iraqi Military Is A Key

A united Iraq requires a political reconcilation. Much work remains to be done on this front. However, there is an even more basic problem; the ability of the Iraqi military to take over internal security. It is regularly reported that the Iraqi army is riddled with sectarianism and corruption. Unless the Iraqi military can live up to its responsibilities the success of the surge will be fleeting. Unfortunately, what the media is reporting doesn't give me much hope that the Iraqi military is up to the challenge.

It's going to be a really long haul. I am sure most people alive today in Iraq grew up in a culture of corruption.

    There. Fixed it for you.

A ship in port is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.

    I stand correctly corrected.
