Quick question, I am trying to find some baseboard material like what I had in my basement. It is basically a particle board type material with a light wood finish, it is sort of like laminate flooring. I'd love to find this stuff because our basement is just kind of a hangout area and I don't want to buy straight wood and try to match the stain to our existing laminate flooring.
Anybody know where I could get it? I've gone to Menards, Home Depot, a flooring store, I called the ReStore and they only have white primer stuff, and I'm probably going to call Moehl Millwork but they will probably laugh in my face when I mention particleboard. Thanks,
The only particle board base i've seen is at Menards. It's wrapped in plastic tape with a wood grain pattern on the tape. Menards has some prefinished solid oak wood base too, it's a golden oak color.
I've replaced all the doors and trim in my house and it's really not that hard to match stain color to your laminate color. If you have a small piece of the laminate you can take to Sherwin Williams they'll be able to come pretty close. It takes some time but really not hard. Brush on the stain wipe off. One coat of polyurethane, light sand, 2nd coat poly, measure, cut on chop saw with quality blade, finish nail in place.
