American Rules Football as Olympic Sport

I think it could be doable, There are enough countries that have 'pro' leagues of American rules football now. US could use amateur athletes in it.
Main problem would be frequency of games. Probably would only be able to take 8 or so team to the actual olympics.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Well, if that happened, in our discussion of college athletics, we could no longer use the term "olympic sports" to describe non-revenue sports.

As this would cause too much confusion, I am against this.

Probably won't ever happen. If people thought the '92 dream team vs the field was lopsided, football would be a bloodbath even with only college athletes. The US could use the division 3 national champs and beat everyone else.

I don't know if there is enough popularity in the world to justify in the olympics, it would be really expensive, and would be the largest team sport. Also the US would be really dominant so I don't know if other countries would be in favor of adding it.

Never. They won't even keep baseball or softball in and they are played a lot more world wide than American football.

Rugby Sevens will be added. A paired down less time consuming match and wears less on all involed so they can play multiple match in a few weeks.

    this is silly.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

No way the rest of the world would just hand USA another gold medal like that

Golf is coming back in 2016 after an unexplainable 112 year absence.

Easily the most internationally played, followed and highly participated sport not in the games.

Maybe in 60 years if it gains enough worldwide popularity.

Then explain how curling became an Olympic sport? Who in the hell plays that?

Looks like curling came back in the 1998 games. It is also an event in the Paralympics.

Looks like most of the teams that compete in the winter olympics also try to qualify for curling. Australia even has a men's team.
