    UNC-CHeat Academic Scandal

Here on Tobacco Road the UNC-CHeat academic scandal is starting to grow some roots. The News and Observer (Newspaper that took down NCSU's Jimmy V in the '80's) has a special web page dedicated to the story as smoke turns to fire:
    NewsObserver.com | UNC academic scandal

Long story short, athletes from football AND BASKETBALL were funneled towards the African American Studies program and into bogus/no-show classes in order to stay eligible. This happened potentially dating back to 1992 when they beat the fab-5 for that year's NCAA championship. This is all coming from a UNC faculty senate report.

Also, the local TV stations and the News and Observer have a pending lawsuit against UNC for the personal phone records of Butch Davis who used his own phone for what many presume as the go-between conversations for paying players (this is a development since the NCAA concluded their first investigation).

All I have to say (as a NCSU alum and current grad student) is that the view looks good from here in Raleigh.

Hello. Seriously Every D1 program in FB and MBB is guilty. This is called "Clustering" where about 70% of all the Juinors and Seniors major in the same curriculum.

"We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect".

The difference is that at UNC, the "course" these players enrolled in....doesn't exist. At all. No papers, no tests, zero interaction with anyone, not even a grad assistant.

All schools (ISU included) have athletes in 'fluff' courses, but those at least require some sort of pulse to pass.
