Why is it taking so long? (TV)

Why is it taking so long to come out with the full schedule? I could've sworn that by this time last year that all this was established.... what is the deadline for all of this?

    My teams: (as of 6/15/14)
    Cleveland Browns: 4-12 - .250
    Cleveland Indians: 34-35 - .493
    Cleveland Cavs: 33-49 - .402
    Iowa State Cyclones (FB): 3-9 - .250

The full TV schedule? I think part of it isn't even out when the season starts.

Yeah, the TV schedule for a FB weekend usually comes out ~2 weeks before.

Most of the times/TV coverage for conference games isn't determined until 2 weeks before each game.

Ah yes, I totally forgot about that... good call. It wasn't a good night and early morning for me.

Yeah, because TV wants to play teams that are good and who will get them the best ratings. I thought it would be something like two weeks or so.

Re: Why is it taking so long? (TV)

While, yes, for the most part each conference game is set 2 weeks before the game, there is ALWAYS a handful of games that are determined before the season starts (usually in early July), such as the Red River Rivalry. On top of that, usually all the pre-conference games time/TV has been determine by this time.

Looking at the Big 12's website, the only Big 12 game that has been finalized is WV/ISU, and non of the Big 12 non-conference games TV has been set. Its safe to say that something is going on that is out of the norm, but I have no idea what that is.

Re: Why is it taking so long? (TV)

What do we know so far?

Tulsa is 11:00am kick on FSN
Iowa is 2:30pm kick on Big Ten Network
West Virginia is a Friday game and 2:30pm kick on ABC

Might as well add Western Illinois is on cyclones.tv to that list

Anything else that we know? I wouldn't expect so because the other 8 conference games for us will probably be determined just like usual, a couple of weeks in advance.

We know the first part. We don't know the second part.

This website is claiming FSN. I thought it was still up in the air between FSN and FX as well, but knowing that West Virginia-Marshall could also be picked makes it more likely that we would be on FSN anyway.

Yeah I'm sure the game will be on FSN as well, but the fact that it has not been made official by the Big 12 is odd. That has usually been official for a month at this point in past years.

Re: Why is it taking so long? (TV)

FSN already has a game scheduled for 11 am (unless they do a regional telecast). FX, however, has that time slot open so Tulsa could very well end up on FX.

i thought bowlsby said something about this at big 12 media days? Something to do with working out the contract and 'admittedly far behind on it'? anyone else catch that or was i on drugs?

You are correct. Finalizing the contract is a precursor to getting the schedule set.
