    Wayne Morgan has Moved On

Former ISU coach Morgan networks in different role BY RANDY PETERSON

Wayne Morgan has gone from installing offenses featuring the likes of Curtis Stinson and Will Blalock to installation of another kind.

Iowa State’s former $750,000-a-year men’s basketball coach is a co-owner of The Installation Company, an outfit that installs DirecTV and Internet services.

Morgan also will analyze men’s basketball games on the new Big Ten Network.

“I miss coaching, but right now, my family and I have moved on,” said Morgan, fired after the 2005-06 season. “We’re still living in Ames, and we’re still enjoying living in Ames as much as we ever did.”

Morgan attended last Sunday’s Big Ten Conference media day in Chicago. He chatted with some coaches, and he listened while others spoke with reporters.

“I think it’s really neat to be at the genesis of anything,” he said of the new network.

It’s not neat, he said, for him to talk about his Iowa State dismissal.

Morgan compiled an overall record of 55-39, including 22-26 in the Big 12 Conference. The Cyclones lost seven of their last 10 games under Morgan and were not selected for either postseason tournament.

“I don’t want to go through that,” he said. “That’s over. I think people can be bitter and upset about what happens, but that’s not me. I immediately made a decision that I’m not going to do that.

    “I have moved on.”

His coaching door, though, is open.

“It’s possible, but at this given point it hasn’t happened,” he said. “The bottom line for me is being able to take care of my family. If I can do that, everything is fine.”

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

People just need to leave him alone about it. If he moved on, so should everyone else.

Best wishes to Coach Morgan and his family. I'm glad he still enjoys living in Ames and has found another direction (for the time being) with his new jobs. I'm especially grateful he brought players like RC & Juri to Iowa State. Thank you Coach Morgan!!

It has been nice seeing the guy around town and not affraid to go places. He wasn't the right man for the job but that doesn't make him a bad person. I know we've seen him at numerous movies and resturaunts.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Re: Wayne Morgan has Moved On

In other news...one of the Grimes city inspectors looks and talks like Sherman Clump (Nutty Professor)...the larger variety (but not that large). And I'm not meaning a subtle resemblance, especially in the voice. His voices sounded exactly like him and looked pretty close.

When he finished he walk-through of our house and gave it the green light, I wanted to clap my hands while yelling "Sherman! Sherman! Sherman!"

I didn't because...well...I wanted to keep my living permit.

I have no idea why I thought of that now, but I had to share it.

Carry on with the Wayne love/hate discussion...

Not unless Morgan is a white male in his 20's from Minnesota.

That will be very scary if it goes anything like his postgame interviews at ISU went...

Re: Wayne Morgan has Moved On

Hope he is doing well. I didn't love him as a coach, but he did a decent job and if you look at him as an "interim" type coach (assuming GMac does a great job upcoming) he did a fine job.
