    Smartphone/3G/4G help

I currently go through Wal-Mart smartalk program, $45 unlimited everything. I have a Samsung Galaxy Precedent phone and it goes off of Sprint towers (3G). I have had it since Sept 2011.

When I first got it the streaming worked great in my office building in downtown Des Moines. My location in the office has not changed but since about January or February the streaming hardly works. Using iHeartRadio I can get KXNO after 4:00 PM pretty clear (Is that because some machines and stuff have been shut down in the building?)

Why can't I get the streaming now? Could it be seasonal because of the Earth's tilt? I am seriously clueless about this. If I go to 4G will I get better reception or will that make a difference?

I work on the first floor (very few windows) in a building downtown and I would be lucky to get 1 bar of 3G on my Droid X. I went to the Razr Maxx and now get full bars of 4G. Of course this is with Verizon.

I think Boost and Virgin Mobile are the only prepaid carriers that offer 4g, but I don't think either one offers 4g in Des Moines.

Are you using the $45/month StraightTalk plan from Walmart?

    Terms and Conditions

StraightTalk gives you "mobile web access". That is not the same as an "unlimited data" plan that you would get from Sprint. The StraightTalk terms prohibit streaming and other high bandwidth usage. They may be throttling back/blocking your data if they see you using too much. This is true for many of the lower cost "unlimited" plans from resellers.

Interesting, I bet that is the issue. When I first got my phone it was unlimited data, no joke. Well that is crap...
