Mass Shooting at Batman Premiere in Colorado

At least 14 dead, 50 injured at Batman premiere in Aurora, Colorado. These numbers are still fluid at this point. Some reports are showing a 3 month old and 6 year old among the victims

Tear-gas apparently used. Suspect had Semi-automatic rifle, shotgun, handgun in possession as well. Explosives found in the theatre and also at the suspect's apartment.

Appears gunman, 24 y/o James Holmes acted alone and is in custody.

Mass Shooting at Colorado Movie Theater, 14 People Dead - ABC News

.Edit. Numbers have been bouncing around all morning. ABC now reporting 12 people dead, 50 injured. Expect the numbers to continue to bounce around through the day.

it sounds like one of those guys that can't tell where video games stop and the real world begins. It sounds like he had a lot of heavy duty equipment.

The very first thought that went through my mind.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

the linked story mentions that the youngest victom was 6 years old. Who brings a 6 year old to a late night showing of batman?

After an event like this, it is natural to try to rationalize it, or to seek a cause, but this was not a rational act, so I have to remind myself not to get stuck in that loop.

Had to have been shock and delayed reaction... likely thinking at least initially the sound was part of the movie.

The scenario was perfect for this shooter to inflict a lot of damage on a lot of people.

Sidebar: I've seen tweets that one of the injured is a 3 month old baby. Who takes a 3 month old to a movie?

First news of the day for me and I read this. Disgusted and outraged by humanity sometimes. Prayers to the victims families.

I've read the same thing, but I've also read that infant died. Not only your question of why someone would take a 3 month old to a movie, but a midnight showing?
