    Iowa Basketball

I went to the Iowa game with a friend that is a hawk fan. They looked terrible! After the first 10 minutes of play, the score was 8-4 Iowa. Freeman apparently injured his ankle. The fan attendance was crummy too. Tehy had about 200 people there, IT wasn't loud, they didn't know any of the players, and there were about 50 people in the student section. Iowa's only good players are Freeman and the freshman Jeff pederson looked ok. They might only win 1 game in the big ten, and don't appear to be in our league.

    Re: Iowa Basketball

I hate to hear this......yeah right!!!!

Now if Northwestern can whip up on them this weekend and steal their mojo.....I don't care about our BCS standing at this point - so if our strength of schedule went down a few ticks i wouldnt mind it one bit....

It will be interesting to see how hawk fans handle another sport with a tanker of a season!!!! Now we have to make it to the tourney....

    Re: Iowa Basketball

Look at all of the "excitement" over the new Iowa basketball program:

    Attendace
Iowa - 8,990 for Lickliters first game on the sidelines
    ISU - 13,973

With our season ticket sales, we will likely have another Top 25 attendance year.

    Re: Iowa Basketball

I wouldn't say they are not in our league. Now if we had a an experienced guard court and a healthy Jiri, then we could say that. Guards a really important since they pretty much handle the ball, direct the offense and do most of the perimeter shooting. That is pretty much suspect at this point. I think Dubuque is a horrible team in D3 also. Not sure on that, but they have always been really, really bad since I can remember.

    Re: Iowa Basketball

Um...no way we had anywhere close to 13,973 at our game last night. Just like Iowa didn't have 8990.

What was the final of the game?

    Paid attendance obviously.

    56-30 was their final.

    Re: Iowa Basketball

I think Iowa will win more than 1 game in the big 10. Lickliter is a good coach. I think they'll be under 500 but not terrible. The big 10 sucks anyways.

I heard this morning that Freeman broke his foot and is out 4-6 weeks. That means he might not play against ISU, so the backcourt experience factor goes out the window.

I would...they are in the Little 10/11 and we are in the Big 12. Totally different leagues if you ask me!!

I don't know guys I've always been told never say that a rivalry game will be a sure thing. It was supposed to be a "sure" thing when Hawks came here in our third football game, but we stepped up our game simply because they were the Hawks. I'm sure this year they will be the underdogs in basketball but that doesn't matter because I know that they will step up their game.

Yeah, that game will be their National Championship.

    Re: Iowa Basketball

While I can't speak of that happened at CHA, I can tell you what I thought at JHHC last night!

I am excited about our BB program. There are many talented players that will pay off in 2-3 years in big dividends.

On the ride home with the guys I rode in with, we all were talking about that this is the best time to be a Cyclones. GC, CS and GM are going to be with us for a while and really take ISU places..... *goosebumps.
