    Plan my unemployment

So tomorrow I start my first "work" day of unemployment. I already have a full slate of job search related things...but I've come to the conclusion that once I get most of this done...my job search responsibilities can only keep me so busy. So...what should I do during the days? I might as well take advantage of not having to work to go do some things that I normally wouldn't and won't be able to once I start work again.

I'll definitely catch a day game with the I-cubs. I'm not looking to spend too much money but you get the idea. And i'm in Des Moines fyi.

    Any ideas are appreciated thanks!

Check out temp agencies. You might be able to find something in your line of work. (There are temp agencies for all sorts of career types, from mindless assembly to office work) Better to be underemployed for a time than unemployed, it looks better on a resume. Employers would rather hire someone who is currently employed.

I definitely second taking this time to get into shape. That will help your confidence and energy level, which will help your job search anyway.

Secondly, any home improvement projects that you can get out of the way would be appropriate.

Thirdly, be as social as possible. Call old friends, old work acquaintances, etc. That is how most jobs are found for the most part.

    Read some books.
    Play Panzer General.

Since you have qualifications, temp work might actually be tough to get. They just might assume that you're looking for something better, while they're largely looking to fill in entry-level positions at the companies they contract with.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

    Re: Plan my unemployment

I got laid off this winter and depending upon what your able to afford since unemployment is always less than your normal check, I really just did things at the house. I also was able to do some side jobs to make a little extra money. I did take a little time off without searching just to enjoy some time off. But each persons situation is different so you kinda have to make that decision.

what i would do, go to steam find some cheap video games (its the summer sale right now) and kill some time. One example i think you can get Civilization 5 plus the new gods and kings expansion for 60 bucks. Be for warned if you let it it will eat your soul. just one more turn.....
