    Trip to Milwaukee

We're meeting another couple in Milwaukee for a short vacation and to see the Cardinals play while they are in town. We've never been. Any suggestions out there for things to do?

    Re: Trip to Milwaukee

    - Miller Brewery Tour
    - Pabst Mantion
    - Check out the art museum downtown/ by the lake. - its at the very least worth a drive by. Very unique architecture
    - There are quite a few cool, one of a kind, ethnic restaurants - polish, German, etc.
    - go to bars and drink
    - holy hill
    - cedarburg, which is North of MKE about 20 mins is a really neat town - has a good winery In a woolen mill and a bunch of shops along the main st. Probably more interesting for females.

should check ou t Kopps frozen custard. They are a local tradition here. Julia's Bakeshop upcakes in brookfield. cedarburg is more antique kind of thing but has a few interesting food shops. Harley museum is a must if u r into motorcycles and its near downtown and miller park. Third ward area is a great area to hang out in for food etc. especially on weekends. Downtown has some interesting walking around the river area. A dive along the lakefront and north up toward UWM is very scenic and you will see the old mansion area.

Kopps is a must though. local chain and each one is different theme and each day they change their flavors, so you might check out the website to see what day they have a flavor you want to try. most locals love their food too, I don't find it that special but their custard is amazing and the experience of seeing how they do it there is reaaly cool.

Sprechker beer/pop plant is also a good tour that ends in free samples in their beer garden. I love their black beer.

My dad and I did a weekend road trip to Milwaukee a couple of years back. Did the Harley Museum and a Brewers-Mets game. Great weekend.

Check out he 3rd Ward. Great place to hang out and drink good beer. I recommend hitting up Wicked Hop or Benelux.

    Re: Trip to Milwaukee

the miller tour is alright but if you like beer go to either sprecher or lakefront breweries. both give better tours, more beer and are just plain better than the miller brewery.

I've done all three and would do them all again but I suggest the other two over miller if you are only going to do one.

I'm just assuming those who say Milwaukee is better than Chicago are small town folk, or have small town roots

Milwaukee Public Market - Fresh Food. Local Vendors.

the Milwaukee Public Market is pretty cool.

Below---eat or drink at Rock Bottom Brewery downtown on the river. Fun place to go. Eat outside if it's a nice day

Lakefront Brewery tour is the one to go on. The tour guides are one of a kind and you drink the whole time. I would also look into some dinner boats. Kind of pricey but a good time.
