    ISU Upsets

With the OSU win being up for an ESPY tonight I thought it'd be fun to rank the ten best ISU upsets in school history (football and men's basketball in the same list).

This is what I came up with from my subjective view....let the debate begin.

My father in law gave me the Sioux City Journal paper from the KU/Wilt upset game in 1957. I had it framed and its one of my most prized possessions. Considering the hype of Wilt and what he did later in the NBA that had to have been a great game to live.

I will never forget the OSU upset though. Having been there and how out of the ordinary it was, it will stick out as one of the best moments in my life (non family related). I love the basketball upsets but those tend to be more frequent.

Agreed. I know full-well that another upset like we had against OSU could be years maybe decades. Granted though, CPR has been pulling off a big time win each year.

I'm a little disappointed that the most recent Nebraska and Texas upsets in football aren't listed. The OSU one was stellar, but these two were pretty amazing as well.

Neither team was in the top 10 at the time which was one of the criteria.

    Re: ISU Upsets

This one would have to be on my list: FB: ISU 23 #8 Iowa 3, 2005
Part of it was being there to see it.

I approve of the inclusion of this game: MBB: Iowa State 63 #2 Kansas 61, 2005 Regular Season, Lawrence, though I think it should be higher.

Anybody have a towel from the game that they will sell? If so, PM me. I've got a photo and tickets that I would like to display with a towel, but I didn't get one that night.

    Re: ISU Upsets

i don't see how this past season's upset over okie lite can possibly be a "bigger" upset than the 1992 nebraska game. ISU was HORRIBLE that year. we didn't belong on the same field as nebraska talent wise. against okie lite we had the athletes on the field to compete if we caught a few breaks.

i get that there was more on the line for okie lite than nebraska, but in terms of talent gap between the two teams, it's not even close.

That's the problem with "lists." Is it biggest or best? According to what? What are the criteria? And so on and so on and so on. They are so incredibly subjective that they can't even be debated because anyone can fart out their own top ten and nobody can be right or wrong.

it's funny how amped i get when i watch the isu/iowa rivalry. i vividly remember nearly where i watched nearly every one (at least the ones we won). i watched that game in beaver creak colorado nervously drinking by myself in a bar. the bartender's name was russel. meanwhile, i can barely remember what i did yesterday.

last year i was at wooly bully's in cookeville TN. when the game went to OT some homer tennessee fan told the bartender to turn the sound onto his game for PREGAME! i was wasted and just hounded that old dude until i got the sound back on my game. there were only about 8 people in the bar and i was going nuts. my enthusiasm turned everyone in that bar into a temporary cyclone fan.

since they used the word "biggest" that is why i have a problem with that particular game not being ranked higher.

My list would have contained that 2005 upset over Iowa as well. For the following reasons.
    1-It's EIU
2- I was tailgating with Hoks and had to listen to them tell me all morning about how bad they were going to pound us.
    3- I was there
4-They didnt even enter the red zone the entire game
