LJ signs contract with the Bucs.

WRNL tweeted that LJ signed a 3-year 1.45M contract with the Buccaneers. Glad to see he impressed when given the opportunity.

    AWESOME!

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Awesome! He earned himself a chance (and over a million dollars). Not bad!

It looks like Collin Franklin signed a 1 year deal with TB as well. Next to Cleveland, Tampa Bay now has the highest population of former Cyclones.

Smart move by the Bucs, that's a pretty low cost option. LJ has the skills to play.

apparently shutting justin blackamon down is worth a 3 yr $1.44 million contract.

what do late round picks generally make? just curious to see how much not being drafted cost him (if anything at all). i still don't know how he didn't get drafted.

Jordan Bernstine from Iowa who was picked as the 10th selection of the 7th round (217 overall) signed with Washington for 2.1 mil over 4 years.

Jordan Bernstine Contract, Salaries, and Transactions

He and Leonard have the same payout over the initial 3 years with the difference being Bernstine will make $660,000 in his fourth year and Leonard will become a restricted free agent. Bernstine also will become an unrestricted free agent after his fourth year and signed a $63,000 bonus compared to Leonard's $7,500

Even if it did cost him a bit of money, which I don't think it did necessarily, he got to choose the team he signed with and that gives you an advantage in sticking I would think.

Spot on...while seemingly not as secure as being drafted, with NFL you want to be at a place that you can be valuable and he was able to help decide that. Hopefully he can stay injury free and keep improving and have a long career.

So if they are both marginal players Bernstine is in the better position, but if they both prove to be quality players in demand, Johnson is in the better position getting to free agency earlier.

Re: LJ signs contract with the Bucs.

This is just the details of the contract LJ signed back in late April/early May. It's not like he has signed a new contract.

First year of the contract is $15,000 above rookie minimum. Second year is $30,000 above minimum for second year players. and the third year of LJ's contract is $45,000 above minimum for third year players.
