Favorite TV shows that ended before their time...

    Another TV-related thread here...

Does anyone else have any shows that they really enjoyed watching, but were cancelled either mid-season or cancelled a few seasons too early and not really given the time to properly wrap-up? I certainly do.

    * Firefly; this will likely always be 1st in line for my favorite shows that were cancelled waaaaayyyy too early. Great story, unique genre (Western-tinged Sci-Fi), engaging characters (and great character development to go along with that), excellent dialogue, this show had it all...except ratings, probably because it was on a Friday night. I'm glad that Joss Whedon (the creator) was able to wrap it up with a very good movie ("Serenity"), and I'm glad that he has had about as much success as you can get in Hollywood with how big of a hit "Avengers" has been.

    * Flash Forward; I think this show's first season was on at the same time as the last season of "Lost", and may have been groomed to take over the sci-fi/mystery/thriller/character drama genre that "Lost" more or less created. I was very disappointed when this was canceled after only one season. I think for whatever reason ABC pulled it off the air for 2-3 months right in the middle of the season, and it wasn't able to sustain momentum after that. Smart move, ABC.

    * Reaper; This is another one that hurts. Great original show on CW or whatever the h*ll that channel is called that was hilarious and heartfelt all at the same time. Only lasted for two seasons, but what a fun two seasons that was.

    * My Name is Earl; It probably only had one more season left in it anyway, but I would have liked to have seen how they closed it out.

    * Invasion; Was on ABC and I think it followed "Lost" in the time slot in its first and only season. Intriguing premise and I liked that it took place in southern Florida and partly in the Florida Keys, where I was living at the time.

    Just from this past season...

    * Terra Nova; it had its ups and downs, but I thought the season/series finale was awesome and it had me ready for more. Was disappointed it wasn't given a chance to succeed.

    * The River; The first two hours were some of the scariest, most intense two hours of TV I've seen in a while. It might have lost a bit of steam as it went on, but I'll miss it.

King of the Hill, or is this still being made? If so I haven't seen any new episodes...

Ben Stiller Show. Funny, but ahead of its time. I think it lasted 8-9 episodes.

My brother and I just assumed that shows we liked wouldn't last. We tended to be correct.

The River got cancelled? Well that sucks. I enjoyed it too. I agree with Flash Forward and I'll add Jericho to the list. I've been watching on Netflix and have the last two episodes to go before I've seen them all.

Arrested Development is the only one for me.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

28 is right; Jericho needs to be on this list. Cancelled twice while it hit its stride.

Nitro Circus -- although I can't blame them for continuing that death wish.

Supposedly. The episodes will be released on Netflix only, and each will focus on a particular character.
