    Beards

So, how many people here have beards and/or mustaches? Secondary question is how long are they? Tertiary question is how many feel weird as hell without one?

I ask because I had a goatee from 2003 until 2010 when I was interviewing for a job, and then didn't grow it back until this summer. I felt naked the entire time I couldn't stroke my beard. Currently, since I haven't trimmed it since May, my beard is currently at 3.5 inches (usually keep it trimmed to 1/8"). I will admit that it felt weird as hell not having a beard to play with in meetings and while I was with friends.

    Re: Beards

I had a beard in college off and on, then transitioned to a goatee. I like that the best. I'm not allowed to sport any facial hair at work besides a mustache, and I don't like looking like a porn star from the 70's, so I'm left with only growing my goatee back on my days off. It stays pretty short because of that.

I hate not being able to let it fully mature.

I rock the goatee often. Never a beard. I'm single and a beard won't get me the type of girl I am looking for.

I've had a goatee forever. From what I can remember, the only time I didnt have one is I cut it off for my sisters wedding. Feel naked without it.

    Re: Beards

I hate not having facial hair period. I have a beard year round, fairly short in the summers but never long either, 2 inches max. It comes in nice and no crazy patches of nothing but I hate shaving so it is perfect.

I actually rock shaggy hair and the goatee. In fact, many people have told me (from my boss, my parents, family friends, ex-girlfriends) that I look like shaggy from scooby doo.

Meh. My head isn't shaved, I rock a mohawk. At least, I used to until I went interviewing. Now it's just kept at a 1/2" length ever since I got my first job.

    Re: Beards

I've got a goatee about 2inches long, and a moustach about 1-1/2 inches long that I wax into a handlebar. I'd like to go to a full beard, but it's not full enough on my cheeks to look good.

    Re: Beards

I usually grow a beard for the winter, then keep a goatee in the summer. I've kept the beard all summer so far, but I keep it very short (whatever the #2 trimmer attachment is). My wife likes the beard. In a year or two when I interview for a job I'll have a tough decision on whether or not I will have to trim the beard.

    Re: Beards

Can't grow facial hair without getting the itchy part. Nor would I want to. Hot chicks, including my wife don't like facial hair at all. You ever see a hot chick with a bearded guy? Only if they are famous or rich

    Re: Beards

In college, I kept a goatee and really long sideburns. In grad school, I grew my hair long and had a very heavy beard (it wasn't cool at the time, either...definitely saw a drop in attention from the opposite sex). Now that I'm a working stiff, about the only thing I can get away with is a neatly trimmed beard in the wintertime. It comes in pretty thick, so it only lasts for a month or two before it becomes too much.

Currently at 4 days of beard. More out of laziness than trying to make a fashion statement of any kind.
