Detroit Red Wing fans are going to be ******. Serves them right, thinking the hockey world revolves around them.

They had for the most part given up on Parise, but were absolutely sure that Suter was coming. Wop wop.

It's not that I'm a Wild fan (I don't really hate them, either). It's that I live in the Detroit Metro as a Blackhawks fan and I just can't stand the pompousness of Red Wings fans. The worst part is them thinking they own the number 19 just because Stevie Y wore it. Because of that "maybe" future Hall-of-Famers Joe Thornton and Johnathan Toews are just supposed to give up their number in reverence. It makes me sick.

Be very interesting to see after this next year if there is a next year what realingment will look like in the NHL. With these 2 signings I hope the Wild,Red Wings, Blackhawks, blues and jets are all in the same divison

Not if the Red Wings have anything to say about it. They want (and expect) to be moved to the Eastern Conference.

And with that I'll stop obsessing with the Red Wings.

I knew there was about a 2 percent chance the hawks were gonna get either player, but this was the 2nd best thing that could happen. Detroit gets blueballed and I'm happy for the Wild. They're going to be a real contender for years to come now. Hooefully the Hawks can go get Carle or someone now, the door is wide open.

Personally I think it should be Nashville that goes to the East. Yeah, I know the whole point is Detroit is in the Eastern time zone and, when the Wings make west coast road trips it becomes an extremely late night for Wings fans to stay up and watch, but...

    1. All of the Wings' biggest rivals, particularly Chicago, St Louis, and Colorado, are all in the West. You essentially end those rivalries.

    2. It's not exactly an "early night" when fans of teams in the Central time zone have to stay up to watch their teams on a west coast road trip, either.

    3. Columbus is also an Eastern time zone team playing in the Western Conference, yet, nobody seems to care for what's in the best interest of their fans (yeah, I know, the Blue Jackets would need to have fans first. Not my point).

    4. It once again goes to the point that Red Wings fans think the hockey world revolves around them. While the Wings moving East is probably the move that makes most sense logistically, it's the point that Wings fans think they're ENTITLED to this and everything else.

Re: Minnesota Wild reportly Sign Suter and Parise

Absolutely amazing day to be a resident of the "State of Hockey". I haven't been able to wipe the smile off of my face since it was announced. Haven't felt like this since Woody crossed the goal line back in November.

The prevailing wisdom prior to free agency starting was that the Wild's only chance was to outspend everybody else. As it turns out (if the scuttlebutt is true), the Wild's offer wasn't even the highest offer Parise had on the table. He is a Minnesotan and wanted to come home.

Most importantly, though it looks daunting on paper, the Wild did not break the bank to make this happen. Around 7.5 million cap hit per year does not hamstring the Wild going into the immediate future. Hell, Parise/Suter will make less than we're paying Heatley for the next 2 years.

Truly a great day to be a Wild fan.

Possibly the hottest day of the year and all I can think about is hockey season.

Re: Minnesota Wild reportly Sign Suter and Parise

As a Blackhawk fan, I'm pretty happy with this for several reasons:

    1. The Wild just gave up a ton of money for the future.

    2. The Canucks will have a tougher time with a better Wild team.

    3. The Red Wings didn't get Suter.

Also, as a Blackhawk fan, I don't really have an overwhelming hate for the Red Wings. I do have that for Vancouver though as they are such a classless organization. I don't like the Wings, but I respect the hell out of them. I just watched NHL 36 with Lidstrom and that guy is such a class act.

    Go Blackhawks!

Re: Minnesota Wild reportly Sign Suter and Parise

I got a feeling that its going to be major realingment. That being said what a day for the Wild they get the top 2 players in free agency they have lowered their cap hit. They have 13 million off the books sfter next year and 14 million the following year. They have a bunch of young forwards that with the other 3 signings likely start the year in Houston to give more development time.
