Ubby - Schedule analysis: Iowa State Cyclones

Reasonable analysis. He doesn't really stick his neck out with any wild predictions though.

No, I'm pretty sure Ubben hates ISU.

I wouldn't say hates us, but he constantly underestimates the Cyclones. I can't believe he said the Hawks are better this year then last year

Re: Ubby - Schedule analysis: Iowa State Cyclones

Non-con challenge: at Iowa. Iowa State snuck out of Ames with a comeback, triple-overtime win over the Hawkeyes last season, coach Paul Rhoads' first over the in-state rivals. This year, though, it's about to get much tougher, and Iowa should be better, with plenty to prove. Add that it's been a decade since ISU has won in Iowa City and, well, you know why we're calling this one a challenge.
I don't know if I agree with the "better" part.

Re: Ubby - Schedule analysis: Iowa State Cyclones

    this was nice...

Upset watch: West Virginia. Look out, Mountaineers. You've been warned. Iowa State did it to Nebraska in 2009, and followed it up with a win over Texas in 2010. Last year, Oklahoma State proved that ISU can beat anybody in this league. WVU will be coming off an emotional home game against Oklahoma, and will be making its first trip to Ames. Welcome to the Big 12. First lesson: Beware of the Cyclones.

Yeah, I really get confused by how much our Quarterback situation gets used against us compared to other teams. Granted, we have a QB issue, but It's definitely not a downgrade from last year. As far as ISUs performance, I'd think it's a neutral. But then a team like Iowa, that is starting a new QB for some reason will be better? Would we be better off if we announced a completely different QB as a starter? By logic I'm seeing I would say yes, which is the part that doesn't make sense. Almost like there is not chance either of our QBs improve at all.

I understand it's an issue and probably not a positive thing, but to harp on it as such a negative just seems odd to me. We have two guys who started games coming back. Maybe the QB will be an issue, but i really don't see the QB Competition as of big a negative as every write up I see making it out to be. At worst, we know where we stand and what we have to do to make it less of an impact.

Iowa brings back their starting QB, who put up much bigger numbers than ours did, unless you're counting turnovers, then our guys put up bigger nubmers. The Hawks have a lot of question marks on offense but the one place they no what they've got is at QB.

Re: Ubby - Schedule analysis: Iowa State Cyclones

Tech was not "rocked by injuries" when they played ISU the past two seasons. ISU just flat out beat them.

The respect that Tech continues to receive from the national media is simply hysterical.
