    Allergists in Des Moines area

    Fanatics -

My allergies are just plain awful right now. Been the worst spring/summer of my life. I need a real pro. Does anybody who suffers from severe allergies have any good recommendations in the Des Moines area? I used to have to go to Omaha when I lived in Western Iowa...Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

    Chris

McFarland Clinic has a whole wing for allergies/asthma.

    Dr. Whitney Molis.

Our 18mo old son has a couple of food allergies and we were told by a couple of Dr.'s in the area that she is one of the best.

This has been an awful year for allergies for me as well. Constantly waking up completely stuffed up.

Yep go to Dr. Brown or Dr. Nasaiff(?). They are both outstanding.

Crazy...Made like 3 calls...couldn't get seen anywhere before Sept.

Finally, McFarland Clinic can get me in on July 23 at a location in Ankeny. That's the earliest.

I'd recommend Dr. Nassif at McF, if you can get in. He's awesome, he's this tiny little man who will drop f-bombs like you wouldn't believe. He is great at diagnosis, though. He's worth driving up to Ames to see.

Nassif is who I went to in high school. Didn't know if he was still around or not since that was 5+ years ago (I'm ******* old ). I wanted to kill him for ordering the allergy test with the back pincher thingies though.

Yeah, same here - although he was really cool about it. He walked in a third of the way through, said, "Yeah, looks like you're really allergic to X, Y, and Z," and wiped those ones off early so I didn't get more irritated.

My day went something like: Leave home at 6am to get to Ames for 8am appointment. Leave 8am appointment at 9:30 with a sore back. Get back home at 11:30 and go warm up for a freshman baseball game where it was 90 degrees and I had to wear catcher's gear. Then at 3 go eat lunch and come back for JV/V batting practice at 3:30 and play JV game at 5:30. Dr. Nassif was on my hit list for about a week. The test itself didn't hurt but the little pinch marks are irritating as hell for the next few days any time you try to sit or lay down.

I had that test done in 1978 and I still remember how much I hated it. I know it was 1978 because I hated it so much my parents took me to see Superman: The Movie afterwards. I hope I never have to do that again.

Oh, that would suck, and you'd sweat all over the little pin ******, and that would make them sting.

Chris, ask if you qualify for the immunotherapy stuff. I am on it right now and have high hopes for it. They say it can do wonders even after just a few months.
