****OFFICIAL TOUR DE FRANCE 2012 DISCUSSION THREAD****

So, we're through stage 1, and I'm of the belief that Cavendish is only in this thing to stay loose for the Olympics. The 4 mile prologue was the first indication, and a weak attempt at the sprint point midway was the other. Also, I think Frank Schleck is toast as well.

Sagan may be the real deal, but his youth may lead to some risky riding.

Every time I think Cadel Evans is too old, he proves me wrong.

Spartacus - solid 2 days of riding!

Blood doping vs. steriods, which technique is better would you say for road bike racing?

It's fairly interesting to watch even though I don't understand all the details, but I do think many of the top riders are likely all dirty in some way.

Well if Cavendish is taking it easy you couldn't tell by his stage victory today.

I didn't watch today's stage yet, but I'll catch it tonight.

On yesterday's stage Sagan was pretty impressive. Evens seemed spent on the final climb. It seems like it will shape up to be a good tour. I'm looking forward to the rest of it. I am curious though as to what effect the Olympics will have on the tour.

I actually think that Lance would have had a chance to win both last year and this year. I'm not one who believe he doped. The slime who are accusing him have all tested positive, but have not been charged by the same doping agency after Lance. The whole think stinks. And this comes up EVERY year right before the Tour, then they drop it.

The thread title has four asterisks around the words instead of three. That makes it extra super duper official, and a certified performance enhancer free thread.

I don't really care whether or not he was doping. It's cycling. Pretty much everyone is doping - some are just better at staying ahead of the tests than others. And whether someone is doping or not, that person has to be a physical freak of nature from the beginning to even contemplate doing something like the Tour.

If anything, they should just make doping legal in this sport. It happens anyways; may as well just get it out in the open. Plus, it would get rid of all the petty ******** and moaning that follows every major event. (I'm only half-joking here)

I wouldn't have a problem with some forms of doping, such as saving your own blood to be transfused back in during the event. I'm not a fan of any chemical assistance, though.
