The problem is Louisville didn't have a partner (worth enough money to cover Louisville's shortfall in value) to bring with them to the Big 12.

Yes because playing a game every other year in Louisville, Kentucky would of benefited ISU much more then one in Fort Worth, Texas.

We have plenty of football games in Texas. Look at what adding Louisville could have added to the MBB profile vs. TCU.

21,000 fans for Louisville basketball. TCU will probably average 2,100.

Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***

Many WVU fans complaining about being on an island this morning now that Louisville will be playing all of WVU's old rivals in the ACC. The Big 12 was a bigger step up than most of them thought. Reading their board it seems like many would put the diaper back on if they could, and play the kind of cupcake schedule they had grown accustomed to in the Big East.

Personally, I think a successful Big 12 expansion would not have included Louisville anyway, although their teams would have been competitive. The Big 12 simply needs bigger impact teams with enough eyeballs to expand our footprint, and the only teams that can do that are the football powers of the ACC. And we won't get the opportunity to choose them until both the SEC and B1G run out of slots.

Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***

We really need to get on this expansion train I want the conference to get back to 12 and get the other 4th non-con game and championship game.

    ACC now has 14
    SEC has 14
    Big 10 now has 14
    PAC 12 with 12
    Big 12 with 10..

I don't get the fascination with Louisville at all. Small fan base and a small TV market. The ACC failed pretty hard here at not taking UConn, IMO. Would of been a much better choice for them.

Pretty much agree...but the word "choose" might really mean that we are forced to "accept" the leftovers.

ISU would of had 1 football game in Texas every other year instead of having 2 each year. Thats a big thing IMO. If you want a good basketball draw, go get UConn. Large fanbase, and a large TV market

So I guess it's time for a intermission before the next round of realignment.

ESPN reports that adding Louisville does not provide any extra $$$ for the ACC media rights deal.

ACC votes to add Louisville Cardinals, source says - ESPN

Next flash point moment for the ACC will be when they attempt to pass a grant of rights for TV holders when their contract that includes some games with Notre Dame is finalized. Another point of opportunity will be when it becomes known exactly how much from $50 million Maryland gets their penalty reduced.

This years recruiting class as it stands (w/ Meeks)

    Texas kids - 7

    Florida kids - 8

Hint, not everything at ISU should revolve around Texas.

I don't disagree, but you said you would rather have Louisville than TCU. How many Kentucky kids do we have?

I pointed out my reasoning. Their football program is decent and their MBB program is lightyears ahead of TCU. They have growth potential in football and will always be way ahead of TCU in MBB.

Not everything needs to revolve around Texas.
