Stings of 90 degree days are not unusual. It's summer.

At least it's not Dallas last year, when they had 40 consecutive days of 100+ degree heat...and it still wasn't the hottest summer on record.

Dallas 100-degree streak snapped at 40 consecutive days

I, for one, am just fine with warmer weather.

But yeah, some overnight rains would probably be good.

I was thinking the same thing. July 2011 was a complete waste. At one point, Madison, WI recorded the same conditions one could only find at one other place that day; a South American rain forest.

    25 straight days 90+ starting June 25, 1934 until July 19.

Long way from a record, and not particularly early for this kind of heat.

(Within that stretch is also the longest stretch of 100+ degree days for Des Moines: 15 from July 3-17 1936).

Re: it was 80's in March and now its going to be in the 90's

I'm wondering if it's our instant access to all kinds of information or what, but there seems to be a lot more complaining or at least concerned talk about hot summer weather than I ever remember. Honestly, as I think about summer in the midwest, anything below 85 seems to be a blessing, not the norm. I guess, in the summer I expect it to be in the 90s or at least feel like it is.

What strikes me about this summer is the lack of rain and how early that lack of rain came about.

It has been pushing 100 for most of this week in Kansas City. The next 7 days don't look much better.

Yep. It was 105 the past three days and I thought to myself...not too bad. At least it only lasted 3 days.
