Because he wasn't even a serviceable QB when he was at ISU. He really improved at the JC level.

    Re: Tyler Lorenzen

Because he probably wasn't all that impressive at ISU. I know he bled cardinal & gold, and he had several family members play at ISU, but if he was as good then as he is now, he would've definitely played. For everyone Tyler Lorenzen there are 2 Greg Coleman's. You can't find every diamond in the rough

I honestly believe he just didn't perform that well when he was here. He had a change of scenery and a new system and blossomed. Kudos to him and I hope he has an awesome year, but there's not a whole lot you could've done differently, IMO

On a related topic, our uniforms are ugly, the football music and intro are lame, what job do you think Dan McCarney will get next, and Hawkeyes Hawkeyes Hawkeyes.

It's somewhat hard for me to believe this... he didn't show ANYTHING while he was here? I've heard the staff tried to transition him to WR/TE almost immediately.

Didn't mean to poke you with a stick there, but he is a local kid, just thought you guys might enjoy the video. Glad he found his place.

Don't get us wrong, we appreciate in the info, but ever since UCONN beat Louisville on ESPN a few weeks ago, this has been one of many topics that has been beaten to death.

Ok, understand, I didn't mean to beat a dead horse, I must have missed the earlier threads. Need to spend more time on the board I guess.

I don't think they even gave him a shot at QB. They saw his size and balanced that w/ their love affair of Meyer and...voila, a kid grows up an ISU fan, attends the university, and is then forced to do the one thing this team needs most (adequate qb play) at another D1 university.

    Re: Tyler Lorenzen

He might indeed have some talent, but the video clips don't really show that much. He had all the time he needed to throw and most completions were to wide open guys over the middle - the easiest kind for any QB. No examples of a guy with the arm strength and touch to hit a sideline out pattern or a deep fly in stride.

Obviously he must take care of business based on their record, but one can not label him a great QB based on the clips shown in this thread.

True you can't tell much by the clips, but he did hit nearly every receiver IN STRIDE, allowing them to pick up yards after the catch... Seems like any time we have a guy that open they have to make a sliding catch or catch it on the knee... I have actually watched three UCONN games now, Lorenzen doesn't have much arm strength but he throws much better on the run, has a better pocket presence and doesn't force the ball...

Appreciate the vid, this topic has just been discussed to death already. When you have little to no life and spend excessive amounts of time on this board, and you begin to see the same topics recur, it gets tiresome.
