    Re: Bird to leave pacers

I am very suprised to hear this. Makes me think something is coming up that we dont know about. I know some guys who know him pretty well and they always talk about how even today he is the most competitive person on the planet. One person that after being retired for 15 years or so could still come in and play some minutes and point points on the board. Still wears out basketballs at his outdoor courts pretty quickly.

I wouldnt be suprised to see him step into the role as the next NBA commish. He has accomplished everything else. Top 2 players ever, dream team, college player of the year, mvp, finals mvp, all star, coach of the year, gm of the year ect. Nobody has the resume that he has in any sport.

I didn't read the article, but I saw a bunch of tweets saying he is quitting because of health reasons.

That's a shame if it's for health reasons. From pictures I've seen, he's been very involved with the pre-draft workouts.

I heard he's thinking of making a comeback with the Heat.

The Pacers' GM resigned today. Maybe Bird is taking that role?

    Re: Bird to leave pacers

Kevin Pritchard is in as the new GM, and Donnie Walsh is coming back as team president. As far as I can tell Pritchard will do most of the heavy lifting, including the draft tonight. I'm holding out faint hope that Royce White falls to them at #26, but I'm guessing he'll go off the board somewhere between 20 and 25.
