    Critter problem

So, I had a raccoon eating my dog's food out of her kennel. I setup a box trap and caught it the first night. I let it go in a ditch several miles from my house. A couple days later and something is eating it again. I setup the box trap several nights in a row and it somehow gets the bait and gets out. The door to the trap is usually shut too. So it is either getting the bait from the outside or getting out of the trap after the door shuts. Last night I put flower all around the trap to at least try to figure out what I'm dealing with. No prints, bait gone, door open. What is it?

If your dog doesn't protect its own food, you need to get a better dog.

    Re: Critter problem

Why don't you just put the dog food inside?

well, you've made a solid attempt with the "humane" trap. know it's time to step it up a notch.

Sounds like you got too much tension on your pan for a smaller animal like a small opossum or skunk. I had that problem last year and I put a foothold trap in front of the box trap and caught 2 small grinners (opossums).

Not sure, but you should shoot the coon. Doesn't matter how far away you dump it it'll find it's way back.

    This.

And sardines work great for bait.
