    We have a packaging crisis

It just took me 10 minutes with a screwdriver to open a bottle of soap from Bath & Body Works (yeah, yeah, it's not mine).

Anyone else got any funny packaging stories to share?

Re: We have a packaging crisis

When small electronics were cased in heavy plastic, I am pretty sure that I have cut myself on the plastic trying to open something and also jam some of my fingers between a pair of scissors.

Anything sealed in that hard plastic. You almost need tin snips or risk losing a finger trying to open those packages.

Anyone who has ever tried to remove a Barbie from it's packaging has a packaging story that is not very funny.

These are the worst, especially when whatever is inside isn't even that valuable, like batteries.

I think coming from you though it does make it a little funny.

Also DVDs or CDs when they would have the plastic tape on all 3 sides. Is that really necessary?

Any toy with the word Disney on it is going to take 6-8 weeks to remove from packaging.

Re: We have a packaging crisis

Wrap Rage: Here in the United States, they don't keep statistics on the number of people who get hurt opening packaging, but in Great Britain they do. And they found that in just one year, 67,000 people got injuries ranging from cut fingers to sprained wrists, from just wrestling with wrapping.

Peter Clark, says: "They use scissors. They use knives, all sorts of tools. And it's pretty scary to listen to some of the stuff. I'm surprised that people aren't getting hurt more often."

    Try one of these:

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

My wife hates that too. I discovered how to open those and now it doesn't take any time at all.

I'm with others that the hard plastic is the worst. I really hat it when they leave very little space to cut around the item and you have to risk cutting the item just to get it out.

CAUTION: May contain small pieces that are known choking hazards.

Yes, we're talking about the 18 twist ties hold this POS toy in the packaging.

Knife down center of the sealing tape then peal back from the center to each side.

Re: We have a packaging crisis

Kids toys have super-twist-ties and little plastic zip-tie deals that make it REALLY frustrating. Also, Barbies have all those little, clear rubber bands tht get tangled in the hair. With three daughters under the age of 7, I've spend an inordinate amount of time cutting Barbies out of stupid ******* goddamn packages.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.
