A big thanks to the players and staff

My son just finished up ISU basketball day camp yesterday. It was for kids entering 1st-9th grade. He will be going into 1st grade and was one of the youngest there but he loved every second of it and can't wait to go again next year. Every day this week he talked non stop about each day until he crashed. The players and coaches do a great job of keeping it fun for the kids as well as instructing them (Austin McBeth was GREAT with the younger kids). Not only did the kids enjoy the drills, scrimmages, etc. they also loved just getting to hang around the players for four days. At the end of camp every day my son would point to different players and tell me what each one of them said to him, or gave him a five, or ate lunch by him etc.

All in all it was a great experience for him and my wife and I as you can watch scrimmages at the end of every day (a 6 year old game of 5 on 5 is pretty interesting at times). Once again just wanted to say thank you to the players and staff and if anyone has a son wanting to go to camp I highly recommend it. I know we will be back.

Cool story, no jimlad. I have a one year old and I can't wait until he's old enough to go to summer basketball camp.

Austin McBeth is a GREAT guy. Glad to hear your kid had such a great experience.

A few years ago, my son went to one of the traveling camps they did in Des Moines. I showed up just in time to see him (a 3rd grader at the time) take a charge on John Neal (absolutely unintentional but a charge nonetheless).

All the other ISU guys went crazy. Made it hurt ALOT less when you're getting fives from a bunch of your idols.

Re: A big thanks to the players and staff

ISU basketball camps are the best. I would go to the traveling one they had in Spirit Lake/Okoboji when I was in middle school. I loved hanging out with Homan, Sullivan, and Neal.

Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd

Another example of ALL the things these guys do for ISU athletics that you don't see on the court.

I hope the employees running the camp weren't on tax payer dollar!

Very cool story-thanks for sharing, Dad. Please save this and repost it in 12 years when the Kiddo commits to the Cyclones.
