    Wesley at the 2

I know they are trying to move him outside, but does anybody think that we still might see Wesley posting up some this season? At 6'7", if a team plays straight man it could really create some matchup problems, especially considering guys like Brackins, Hubalek, and Thompson can shoot it well.

    Man I'm excited.

    Re: Wesley at the 2

The match-up problems we can create will certainly be a positive. I am just worried about Wes' rebounding from that position, and I hope he shoots the three better than last year.

    I'm excited, too!!

    Re: Wesley at the 2

I definitely think the move will create match-up problems.

    Johnson
    Clark
    Brackins
    Thompson

All in the game at the same time (clearly, because they are starting Thursday). Some size issues that teams will have to deal with.

I'll be interested to see how teams combat that, likely trying to run us out of that lineup I would think. Hopefully these guys can get up and down the court quickly. If they can (I know Clark can, that will be the saving grace for that group - his defense), we'll be ok.

At the practice watch you could tell Clark was excited about the season.....He even said, "Get ready guys, your going to see the freshman Clark this year, lighting it up, I'm back this year!"

I hope so, I loved seeing his gamebreaking dunks and threes

    Re: Wesley at the 2

That would be interesting to put Wesley at the 2. It definately looked like his shot was improved at the practice and he knocked me out of the knock out game we played afterwards. Just got my Cyclone Alley shirt, so I am offically ready for the game on Thursday!! I have never been so pumped up for a basketball season in my life and that includes the 2004-2005 Illinois team when I was still a diehard fan of Illinois.

I think Clark just needed guys who could provide him with the opportunities to shine (Curtis/Will) I think he has that now.

    Re: Wesley at the 2

Peterson, Garrett, Johnson and Clark handling the ball could be very scary.
I could see a 6-1 guard from OU stealing the ball from clark and johnson every time.
    I guess we will see.

    Re: Wesley at the 2

I think at the 2, Wesley will shift from rebounding and post defending to being an outlet and getting a fluid offense going.

    Re: Wesley at the 2

It might create match up problems on both sides of the ball, good and bad. I was thinking also that a team playing a three guard line up might present some real issues for us to defend.

DMR is stating that the starting lineup is:
    PG Peterson
    SG Johnson
    SF Clark
    PF Brackins
    C Thompson

    Re: Wesley at the 2

I can't wait to see Brackins play. He is athletic. He can shoot the rock too, after the open practice he won the knock out and over half of the shots where taken from beyond the arc. He is definately worth all of the hype he got. He needs to work on his passing but what freshman doesn't need to work on some part of their game.

One thing about Wes' rebounding is that he lead the league in offensive rebounds at over 3 per game last year, so he got a lot of his rebounds from crashing the boards. I honestly think Wesley can continue to do well rebounding (5 per game range) by continuing to crash the boards since he's so athletic. McD mentioned that he was pleasantly surprised how well Brackins can rebound so I think we'll see him pick up the slack there.

    Re: Wesley at the 2

Wesley at the 2 will be great. I was hoping to hear that. He shoots well from the perimeter and can follow his shot the on long rebound out. He is as good a guard as the rest of oiur guards. Ouir weakness is guard spot at this point.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

I was thinking the exact same thing, Wesley crashes the boards very well. I think he'll be fine rebounding. When a shot goes up, he can easily get in position and get the rebounds that are a little out of reach of the front court players under the basket.

Doesn't having your 2 guard crashing the offensive boards leave you with some serious issues defending the other team's break?
