Iowa State Football History: The 1890's

Ok. There has GOT to be a "Paul Harvey, Rest of the story........" here. Somebody tell me there great grandfather is in this picture. Somebody tell me the 3rd person in the first row on the left married your great aunt.

No relation, but that is Pop Warner last row, standing up, on the left. I didn't see this indicated there.

It is good to see them doing this. They used to have history like this posted on cyclones.com 10-15 years ago but at some point took it down. It probably related to a major site revamp. There is actually new or different explanation at this link, than what there was before. Kudos to ISU.

The last time I linked to it here a year or two ago, I found it via Google archived somewhere (in pretty poor shape). There was also a good cheer or two from the 1890s Bombs, posted in that thread, found looking for ISU's initial nickname and colors. That information was indeterminate on the nickname, IIRC, but the initial colors were silver and black as I recall.

That's probably correct. Gold actually crossed my mind, but I had a real aversion to posting it in any combination with black.

My great grandfather is in that picture. Also, the 3rd person in the front row married my great aunt.

It's not true, but I told you, so...rep?
