    Tyler Ellerman joins team?

A couple tweets from MBB. The link takes you to the MBB pages. Is this another walk-on or preferred walk-on? He is listed on the roster now. If this is posted in another thread, please merge.

    Tweets:
    @CyclonesMBB

Tyler Ellerman, who led Dallas Center-Grimes to its first state championship berth in 2010, has joined the team as... http://fb.me/RXV44y4r

The 6-8, 230-pound Ellerman has been at ISU for two years majoring in ag studies. He was a 2010 Class 3A First-Team All-State pick.

    Edit: OK......another tweet

#Cyclones add another walk-on in Tyler Ellerman, the 6'8" 230 lb Forward will be classified as a junior - http://*******/Mcnp8Z

    Re: Tyler Ellerman joins team?

He is a typical walk-on, already at Iowa State and wanted to join the team. Obviously the coaching staff has taken him up and is now a member...

I hope he doesn't because if he does that means we are playing walk-ons.

With one fantastic exception, that means we're putting the hurt on somebody.
I enjoy it when we put the hurt on somebody. I hope he gets some time at Allen Fieldhouse.

At the end of games when we're kicking ***. I think that's what Erik meant.

Or it means we're beating our opponent by 30 points.

I'm already chanting Ellerman's name, just to practice.

    Re: Tyler Ellerman joins team?

Oh god...haha. I play with this guy all the time. can't believe he made the team honestly. I'm 6'3 175 and can guard this guy. Just a big body who doesnt box out, rebounds very poorly, and is slow. He does have some decent touch when he gets close to the basket, but honestly, I think he was added to the team just to be a body for practices which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Might only be seeing him at the end of blowout games. (sorry to be so negative)

Oh I was hoping that you meant we were overly confident and let start bench players start the game.

If we get the win, I'm all for it. Maybe the Iowa game.

My guess is, at that size, he's being brought in to abuse some post players in practice. Not that he's talented enough defensively to shut guys down, but will basically be told to push, grab, hold, etc. at will. Get our posts used to playing against physical defensive players. Sounds good to me.
