A Look Back at Pre-Season Predictions

    Some entertaining stuff.

Some pretty good reading in there. A couple of the notable quotes:

    Funny stuff:

You've got a team that went a very ugly 4-8. Lost some key people, mainly on a very bad defense and a poor offensive line. New coaching staff. Quickly put together recruiting class.

And people that aren't predicting 7-5, 8-4 or even 6-6 type of a season are "Hawks"? Puh-lease.

I stand by my 4-5 wins for '07 and won't waiver until I see something on the field that leads me to believe otherwise. We can read all the cool articles that can possibly be written about what the new staff is doing with strength, practices, plays, etc. That's well and good and we should see improvement this year.

Yet we still have basically the same players as we did last year. Many of these guys are just not on par with the athletes they'll face on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Coaching can help close this gap, I am fully aware of such. That will take time though - keep in mind we do have a first year head coach at the helm...young players are not the only ones to expect growing pains from.

The South is pretty much panning out how we thought but the North is completely different.

I know you picked us by 21 over Kent State and to lose by 29 to Iowa and to beat Nebraska by a 2 in terms of the prediction department.

    How's that?

I predicted four wins...so at least mathematically I'm still in the running for four wins...IF we can win the last three games!!!

Re: A Look Back at Pre-Season Predictions

I predicted 4-5 wins so even I seemed too optimistic back then in hindsight when at the time us 4-5 win folks were sometimes criticized for not being optimistic enough.

    I predicted 4-7...

    ...so you're saying there's a chance...

wrong, your ineliligble for next year's picking because you didn't pick the correct amount of games. their's 12 games not 11 therefore you are suspended for this year and next year.

Re: A Look Back at Pre-Season Predictions

I believe I predicted we would have only one win up to this point, and that would be the Iowa game. And that we would see vast improvement and come close against two nationally ranked teams.

Re: A Look Back at Pre-Season Predictions

I unfortunately figured we could pull out six wins, beating Kent state, UNI, Iowa, Toledo, Colorado, and K-State. So far its been a pretty ugly set of predictions too.
