Athletes you changed your opinion on

Hopefully the thread title makes sense but I want to want know what athletes you changed your opinion on (i.e. you like them but now don't or didn't care for them but now do).

For me maybe because it's basketball time right now here are mine. Mine are all didn't like but now do.

Charles Barkley - Didn't care for him as a player but now seeing him as an analyst I've changed my view.

Karl Malone - I was not a fan as he was a rival to MJ and the Bulls. Also him leaving Utah to go to LA to gravy train a ring I thought was kind of weak. Caught his interview today on Dan Patrick, and was found it very good. To me right there with Duncan as greatest PF's, because as Karl said in his interview I find Duncan to be more of a center than a PF.

Shaq - Mainly this was during his time in LA. I was fine with him in Orlando and everywhere after LA.

Dennis Rodman - He was a Piston so no doubt he was hated by Bulls nation, but it's amazing what can happen as he was an intricate part of Chicago's second 3 Peat.

Kobe - Mostly because of him being in LA and his off the court past. He is also the 1 person that could make an argument of being the closest thing we have seen since MJ. I see so much of MJ's game in Kobe so for that I have respect for him.

I only have 1 person I went from like to not liking and that is D. Wade. I was cheering like crazy for the Heat against the Mavs when they beat them the first time.

I never liked Karl Malone as a player. Then I read the following article and didn't like him as a person.

Bubba Watson is getting there really fast. I knew him a little bit growing up, playing JR. tournaments and baseball with and against him. I've followed his career and always found him funny and good natured. Now, he's just coming off as a whiny crybaby and not appreciative of the sport and his sponsors that have done so much for him...

Tebow the media dog, I've never liked.

Tebow as a player/competitor... I've learned to appreciate. Hated him in college, but definitely respect him now

Larry Bird. I hated him growing up, it drove me nuts every time he was on tv or in the media. I cheered against him every game.

Then he going to retire and Bird and Magic had that deal before one of their games and Magic took off his warmup and had a celtics t shirt on and they were hugging and I figured if magic likes him then I could to.

As I got older I realized that he is more than likely the most gifted player to ever play the game of basketball and when people talk about the greatest players of all time, if he isnt listed as #1 or #2, they more than likely never played basketball.

Tebow - I hated him when he was at Florida, but I love him now. I watched every Denver game I could this year because you never know what would happen. Plus all the stuff he does outside of football is incredible. He really is a great person.

Kevin Love - I wasn't happy when the Twolves drafted him, but he's proved me wrong.

Re: Athletes you changed your opinion on

My list has to start with LeBron James. He was a real good guy until something snapped inside him and he became the biggest ********* on the face of the earth. Don't know if he was the one calling the shots or not, but "The Decision" might be one of the stupidest things anyone has ever done in sports. It's almost like Vince McMahon was in his ear.

Dennis Rodman. Liked him a lot in Detroit. Hard-nosed player. Once he left Detroit, he seemed to become more of a cheap-shot artist. Would have liked him his whole career if he hadn't played so dirty near the end of it.

Shawn Kemp. Liked him a lot. Then he became lazy after they lost to the Bulls in the Finals. I'll bet he's 600 lbs. now.

LeBron. For awhile I thought he was unfairly saddled with the label of a choker, because he never had a Scottie Pippen to help his Michael Jordan. Then he made a scene with his Heat announcement, got himself a dream team, and continues to fail to bring his A-game whenever he really needs to do it. He seems like more and more of a diva with each passing year, and its enjoyable to see him struggle.

Tim Tebow. Didn't care for him in college, but he has handled the NFL well. Plus he has outstanding character, which is refreshing after seeing other players get arrested or let their egos balloon. Plus it seems most people attack him for his faith, which to me is low. He really is a great role model.

lebron james-the "decision", the celebration of "not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7..", the "practice is going to be so tuff that the games are going to be easy", the presser after the game 6 loss last year when he said that all the haters had to go back to their reality basically saying we are all peons (which maybe we are compared to him but it's not something you say), the phony scowl when everybody knows he's "soft"(ya i know he is huge and could probably kick a lot of ***, but he likely wouldn't because it's not who he is).

Reggie Jackson after his interview with Howard Stern. Howard has his blue side, but his interview skills are some of the best.

He even got Lady GaGa to be interesting to me and I'm definately not in that demographic
