Re: Williams Blog: Odds analyst tabs ISU at 3-9

That would make for a long and depressing season. It certainly is possible, we were only a handful of plays away from that last year. I would predict a few more wins than that.

I love how everyone but us get's a homefield advantage in their spread. Hacks that will be proven wrong again.

Re: Williams Blog: Odds analyst tabs ISU at 3-9

We need to have more than 7-6 (or 6-7) seasons to get more favorable reactions from the betting world. A few big wins are helping us, but we need some big seasons to take us over the hump.

Now, where can I make a bet on the season based on these guys predictions? I would love to make them put their money where their mouths are.

Might take awhile for that since we're in the BigXII

Puts the head coaches job in perspective. Fans want 6, 7 wins, media can only find 3 wins on the tough schedule.

Being favored in 3 games isn't the same as a 3-9 prediction. Theoretically, take team that's a 2-point underdog in every single game. That's not an 0-12 prediction.

That being said, is there an over/under on our wins? I think it would be 4.5 based on those lines, but maybe 3.5.

Can you bet on the over under on 3 wins? Just curious. I am not a betting man but this would be a bet I would take the over. I would slap 50 bucks down on this one. I have never bet on a football game but this would be the first.

I can see how we get to 7 wins. I can also see how we win 4. I see the odds of us winning less than 4 about the same as winning 8+

Exactly. I wish more people would realize this (including Mr. Williams). There is no 3-9 prediction here.

Re: Williams Blog: Odds analyst tabs ISU at 3-9

I think if you laid equal money on each of the following games and took ISU to beat the spread, you'd come out ahead:

    Tulsa
    Tech
    TCU
    KSU
    Baylor
    OU
    WVa

Iowa, Texas and Western Illinois are all possibilities, too, but factors in each case makes me think it'd reduce the overall take.

That sounds like something ISU would do.
