    From bad to worse

Keller is done for the year at Nebraska.

JournalStar.com - Lincoln, Nebraska - Blog - Life In The Red

I've been a staunch Callahan supporter from day one, but this year has shown that he and his staff just don't have what it takes. I know alot of you have been hoping and praying that Callahan would flame out like this, but never in my wildest dreams did I envision a 4-5 team with 3 games remaining.

After Bill's comment about defending Sweed last week, maybe we can get him to talk about how Keller will really have to be on his game to beat KU this weekend.

Joe Ganz is his name, he's been in the program since Callahan arrived and knows the offense. Callahan and Watson were claiming all summer that Ganz would have a "legitmate" shot at earning the starting job. Ganz has never started a game.

Well, he's starting now, isn't he?

Well, you're coming around to what so many knew already. Callahan just wasn't the guy for that job.

He showed good poise at the end of the Texas game. I don't think they'll be any worse with him playing the position.

It doesn't matter who they have at QB if their defense doesn't come to play.

I actually think Ganz is better than Keller. Maybe they will wake up now.

    Re: From bad to worse

Nebraska did win the North last year, so it's not like Callahan is horrible. I honestly believe they should have just let Cosgrove go in the offseason and gave Cally another year before they hit the panic button. Bringing Tom Osborne back is stupid IMO. Nebraska is not going to be a top program again until they move on from the past and realize things have changed in the college football world.

    Re: From bad to worse

Looks to me like Tom Osbourne showed up in practice and told Shane Watson to run two backs out of the backfield to get room for Marlon Lucky to run. He then went over to Kevin Cuz' Groveless and told him he better put pressure on the qb with a 8 man line/in the box. Funny how the biggest changes were made after their jobs were on the line. Who knows, maybe they have been fired already, and are just going through the motions.

All I know is the Nebraska team looked like the best team for three quarters that they looked like in four years. Where have all these players been hiding out?

That is exactly why I don't think T Osborne should be the AD. Who would want to be the coach working for the coach who is god in NE and anytime he doesn't agree with the current coach's philosophy and says one word about it to the media, then every NU fan will be taking Osbornes side. That sounds to me like coaching suicide. Might have worked for Alvarez at Wisconsin, but Osborne and the rabid NU fan are a WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY. If I am at all a coach who has even one ounce of a desire to implement something new into NU football, working for Osborne who is virtual family to all of NU fanbase should be the easiest NO in his vocabulary.

Which, as an ISU fan, wouldn't be the worst thing......really....

Personally, I enjoy watching the debacle over east then I do to kNU. At least Nebraska has a reason to be upset and expect BCS bowl games on a consistent basis.

    Re: From bad to worse

Brandenburg at linebacker is a huge loss. That means McKeon will have to play again. He misses more tackles than a Dalmatian has spots.

Keller will have a problem going pro if his shoulder does not repair quickly. At least he will not miss a bowl game.
