    Cyclone Basketball@CycloneMBB
Melvin Ejim's Nigerian team won its first game in China. Melvin had 10 points and played a lot at the 2. #Cyclones

That's exactly what I was thinking. Good to see him get in the double digits too.

    Re:Ejim: Nigerian Team Update

I'm convinced that if Melvin can continue to expand his game, mainly in ball handling and outside shooting, he will be a star for us by his senior year. Hearing that he's playing at the two is great.

Awesome. I wouldn't ever expect him to play the two. That seems crazy

He's playing the two (if he is) because of a lack of talented players on his team. That's my guess.

Good for him. If he continues to improve every year then by his senior campaign we could be looking at a first or second team all conference player. Maybe some time at the 2 will give him a chance to develop a more consistent outside shot.

This. Sometimes it's hard to believe it, but Melvin is only halfway finished with his ISU career. He contributed so early that it sometimes feels like he's been here longer than he has. Melvin's one of those guys who doesn't necessarily excel in one particular area, but makes big contributions because of his hustle, tenacity, and willingness to do whatever it takes to make the team better. Play out of position? Sure. Cut down on minutes? Ok. Whatever it takes. I really hope he embraces more of a leadership role, this year.

No doubt that he's a respectable player and has a lot of talent, but I just don't really see him taking a leadership role. He just doesn't seem to be the most vocal guy, on the court or otherwise. I would love to be proven wrong though

He might not have to be a vocal guy but when the game is on the line can he one who can be depended on to take that last shot, get a big rebound, or just not make any mistakes. Sometimes a leader doesn't have to be vocal as long as they get the job done.

No offense to Melvin but I wouldn't trust him take take the final shot at this point. It just isn't his role. Maybe he will develop into that this year or next.

He does seem to be a good candidate for leading by example, in life off the court. I will give you that. Seems like a good guy and does well in the classroom. In my earlier post I was more considering on the court leadership.
