    Re: 85 MPH speed limit

Florida may as well have it. If you aren't going 85 MPH on the interstate in Florida you are getting passed every second.

    Re: 85 MPH speed limit

85 is getting up there to the point where I wouldn't trust people to have any ability to keep control of their vehicles and driving habits.

gotta be honest, I don't trust the general public going that fast. I'm thinking it should be an additional license for higher speeds.

    Re: 85 MPH speed limit

I think the biggest issue is to get the minimum up to 65-70 and enforce it. That is the biggest danger on the road.

Why does the speed limit need to be raised? Honestly. Once its at 85, people will ***** and say it should be more.

    Re: 85 MPH speed limit

I'd be alright with Iowa at 85 if they made it harder to get a driver's license and didn't give every moron in the state who can't drive a license.

Of course I would also support laws where farmers can't put machinery on county roads between 7-9am and 4-6pm to prevent congestion on roadways. The same would also be good for people over the age of 70 or so who think 40 is the proper speed at rush hour on highways.

I just wish it was tougher to get a license in general.

    Re: 85 MPH speed limit

In a state with an older population like Iowa, 85 couldn't be a good idea.

If every one treated the speed LIMIT as a "limit", slower drivers would not be a problem.

75 seems about perfect in SD and NE... Running right at 80 is about right IMO.

Coming up on someone going 25MPH slower than you in heavy traffic is still dangerous.

    65 (average limit) - 40 (current min) = 25
