    Big Weekend

It goes without saying really. We may have an uphill battle for DFS - but hopefully we can show him that we need him more than Louisville, Florida, G-town etc does.

As for Monte Morris - he might be even bigger. Could play a combo guard, which would be a huge advantage if Naz Long pans out. Like another one of our priorities, we have been on "Man-Man" since last summer - before he blew up in the recruiting media-sphere, and hopefully that carries some weight with him. I know that he and SDW trade texts, but it will also be a plus to have him meet Georges and Naz - who should both be arriving on campus (along with SDW) while he's here. These guys live and breath Iowa State, and could go a log ways toward helping the staff seal the deal.

    Git 'er done Fred!

If only there was an open scrimmage or something. That would be a fun thing to watch.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

    Re: Big Weekend

I would much rather have Matt Thomas over Monte Morris, after all the work Fred put into him.

That being said, Monte Morris would be an awesome get!

^That. Morris looks to be a stud.

If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls

    Re: Big Weekend

I put a very very low probability on seeing anything from Morris this weekend (like a commitment) as he still has later visits planned and said as recently as last week that he plans to make his decision in late July or early August before the school year starts. Regardless, if that is his timetable then this visit is a big one as he won't likely be back on campus before he makes his decision.

I'd bet we'd take both. We need:
    1 pg
    2 wings - great 3 pt shooters
    1 sf - 6'6"+
    1 pf
1 pf (a shot blocker if we don't get DFS)

It isn't an either or scenario... MT is a 2-3 and MM is a 1-2, and we currently have 5 scholarships available. I understand being enamored with Thomas though (hopefully 4 after this weekend talking to DFS).

Plus we have been recruiting both of these guys for a loooooong time. I would guess they are the programs top two targets this summer.

Good topic by the OP. I was thinking earlier that with Finney-Smith's visit we maybe overlooking Monte a little. I agree that he is just as important to this program in two years as DSF and MT.

    Re: Big Weekend

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant I'd rather have MT over MM, but I'd glady take both .
