How can you not be optimistic?

Improvement is what we are all looking for from Iowa State, and that's what we are seeing
    1. Offensive line looked great. A top DL player from Mizzou called our line the BEST and most physical they've seen all year.
    2. Our Red Zone offense overcame the problems we had earlier
    3. Playcalling was consistant and looked good
    4. Running game AND passing game strong
    5. Defense continues to play stellar ball in all areas
Chizik let's the officials know what he thinks. He was on the field several times at the Mo game. He stands up for his team. I like that.
We've HAD A CHANCE to upset two top nationally ranked teams in two weeks. With our depth, that's all you can ask for. A chance to win the game.
I've very optimistic for next year. Chizik is a man with a plan and it's showing. With the talent we have red-shirted, and incoming help, we will be much improved next season. We've all criticized the mistakes Iowa State made, now let's give them the credit they deserve.

Not to rain on your parade but it's easy to say something like that when you win 42-28. I'd rather get a W than sit here every week trying to find moral victories.

Gotta look for the positives this season. I don't like losing anymore than anyone else. But this is a year to build. We probably have some redshirts that are better than the guys playing, but I agree with holding them for next year. The players AND coaches are improving. It was fun to be at a game and see a team play toe to toe with the best. We did do that.

I am so sick of moral victories. All I want is the W.

Comparing the Cyclones against MO vs the Cyclones against Kent State, I would say the team has come a VERY long way this season.

I hate to keep losing too, but the last two weeks showed we are getting somewhere. A win or 2 to end the year would really top it off nicely.

    Thumbs up Huge Improvements ---

Great post.....I couldn't agree more. Now is the time to "Pack the Jack" and close
out the season w/ a couple of W's. Go Cyclones.

Sure helps the recruiting to show our support.

Re: How can you not be optimistic?

I don't like moral victories either, but the signs our team has showed the past couple weeks shows the good job the staff is done working on fundamentals and truly making the team better.

I know at the beginning of the season we were just begging to see improvement from week to week and that is what we are getting now, but I still yearn for the victory and I think we might get one or two (I think we can get K-State and Colorado) before the season is over.

Our players are working their butts off. A win would be nice for them even more than all of us. Two or three even better.

Good post. I didn't get to hear any of the game being in Chicago all weekend. But everything I've read thus far says we played pretty well. Improvement is the key, particularly for our younger guys. Nothing is throw away - but most of us figured this season would be rather "uneventful" anyway. We've had shots and been in a position the past two weeks to take down top 15 programs. Who would've thought that after week 4?

I was at the MO game, and it would have been easy for our team to fold up its tent and go home, but they kept fighting back. If we would have saved our time outs, we would have scored to make it a one TD lead and had a chance for an onside kick. Thats how close that game was. Like I said, we looked like a real football team. You would have been proud.

Re: How can you not be optimistic?

recruiting is the big thing with putting our butts in the seats...if recruits see that we pack a stadium for a 1-8 team, they will just go WOW, just think if we were winning all the time?!?!?

TIME TO TAILGATE AND CHEER THE CLONES ON DOWN THE ROAD, At least now I am feeling good that we will have a good showing and we will fight and we will compete. I couldn't say that after the Texas game. LET'S GO CYCLONES!!!

I believe you that it was said. But where did you hear one of their D-lineman said that about our O line. I find that very encouraging. Do you have a link to a quote or anything?

Well, it was in the Rag's published edition, but I'm not finding it in the online article.
