My friend owns that place. He is a good trainer and they know what they are doing. Try it out.

Crossfit West Ames is pretty legit. The owner Joey is a good guy. The workouts are usually under 25 minutes but they will smoke you.

    Re: Crossfit Ankeny

Plenty of criticisms of CrossFit, but here's a pretty comprehensive review that I found. This guy doesn't appear to be a big fan, but he seems pretty fair. This is a pretty good summary of CrossFit:

If you have a specific goal in your training — top-level competitive mountain biking, bodybuilding, a 600-pound deadlift — then CrossFit isn't for you. You need to specialize. If you want to be good, but not great, at a variety of athletic qualities, then CrossFit is a good option. And that's the truth.

Everyworkout has its critics. Cross fit is not for me but its still a great work out.

Agree, a lot of smart and credible strength coaches on T-Nation.

    Poliquin, CT, Alessi and more.

Of course there are. It just seems like a somewhat dangerous program due to its focus on quantity of reps and lack of attention to form, which is combined with Olympic lifts.

No personal experience here, just going by what I've read.
