If we want to make health care more expensive, with less quality and more red tape, then by all means, do it.
I actually think that is the overall goal of democrats. Make it so expensive that you HAVE to use the government system, and then you will rely on the dems to provide you that service, and you will have no choice but to vote for them. I really cannot fathom any other reason why people would think the government can do better for them than they can do for themselves.

It might be relevant to point out that Mr. Lansley and the Telegraph editorial page are not proposing to abolish the NHS. This is part of their long-standing campaign to point out mismanagement by the Labour Party. (That is actually Mr. Lansley's job as the shadow minister, along with proposing new policies.) When the Torys do regain power, they will not abolish the NHS, but significant reforms can be expected.
