    50 Shades of Grey

Anyone's wife read the book? I've heard of several guys having, ummm, shall we say...good luck when their spouses have read the book. Some of the stuff I've heard people saying about it almost makes me want to pick it up.

Everything you've heard is true, I love those books and I've never even read them.

Yes. Mine is reading it and had me read a page or two. I asked her who in the world would want to do that nasty stuff?

You should maybe save this card until you need it.

    Re: 50 Shades of Grey

This should be required reading for all married women. I love the books too, but haven't read a page.

    Thank you E L James!

You've got plenty of other stuff to enjoy first. Save this one until later.

I had a co worker(female) tell me it's not the sex stuff that makes them great. It's the story. I told her I felt like I was in high school and girls were telling me they don't pleasure themselves.

Totally. Right now you've got engagement sex, then newlywed sex. Then there's babymaking sex, which is more of a chore but hey, it's still sex.

Save this for when you're done having kids but not having as much sex as you should, mostly because you've gotten used to being too tired for sex and fallen away from the habit.

Actually, I think it's a combination of both according to my wife. She said the erotica is detailed and provocative, but it's the love story, drama and even some humor that keeps her interested. She also told me that the main character starts out as a virgin in the book and is very insecure about her body and anything sexual, but then falls in love and "embraces" many new, exciting things. ;) I think a lot of married woman can relate to the insecure part and wanting to overcome that, so that's why this book is so intriguing for them.

I just think it's funny that someone is making that much money off of Twilight fan-fiction with the names changed.

No offense, but your coworker must not be very literate. Anyone who is used to good literature hates these things.

I had to read these for a book club I'm in (all other women). They were freaking awful. The writing was abysmal - repetitive, poor structure, the characters were one-dimensional and trite. The author threw in a few $10 words to make it seem like she wasn't writing full-on porn. The love story was crap - it's about a dumb chick who can't make up her mind on if she wants to be submissive or do some stupid predictable rebellion, and her boyfriend/fiance/husband who is domineering and controlling. The plot keeps getting more and more convoluted as a way to just make the books longer so she can keep throwing in the sex stuff - which is laughable. I get that some women really get off on it, but you can't call a woman's genitalia "her sex" with a straight face that many times. And seriously, the sex scenes were all the same. I'm guessing this is what watching a porn on loop would be like.

So how long did it take you to read the book.....
